Conservation of a

French scenic wallpaper


This early 19th C. wallpaper was printed in distemper by woodblock. It had hung in a French chateau but had since been transferred to London and installed, still adhered to the original plaster wall.


Conservation work entailed consolidating loose pigment and the retouching of lost areas of paint.
